About the Artists

Bonnie Becker

I seem to be attracted to things that have reflections and shadows. This best describes the work of Bonnie Becker. Her subjects vary from florals with willowy shadows cast over the leaves to cats gazing out the windows at their reflections. It is capturing a moment that I find appealing. Ms. Becker works in watercolor, pencil and colored pencil.

She has taught art for 28 years in Tinley Park area. She has a Masters degree in Drawing and Painting from Governors State University.

Carol Bilder

Carol enjoys variety both in her subject matter and media. Although pen and ink rendering of animals has occupied an equal share of her enthusiasm recently, watercolor is her medium of choice. She feels the color excitements of florals and still lifes ache for interpretation in this medium. Her need to share her life experiences with others, triggers her occasional landscape expression.

Her paintings have been accepted into national competitions, represented by: The Great Frame Up (Oak lawn, IL) Anam Art Gallery (Naperville, IL), The Clipper Ship Gallery (New Buffalo, MI), The Pumpernickel Inn Gallery (Union Pier, MI

Pat Davis

Always interested in the arts, Pat turned to watercolor painting 4 years ago. He has a wide range of focus in his watercolors: Chicago landscapes, recreated scenes of Mexico (focusing on figure work), and recently has developed an affinity for painting intimate, high-contrasted florals.

Deborah Konopinski

Deborah transforms landscape subjects into remarkably fluid and colorful expressions in watercolor. She paints very directly and 'wet', a skill most watercolorists name as one of their goals. Originally an acrylic painter, Deborah now prefers watercolor in its ability to portray subtle light variations and shading nuances.

Mark Muloski

Mark has discovered an amazingly spontaneous style in his watercolors. His brushwork feels immediate and seems to allow the viewer direct participation in his process. His main focus has been work with the figure, primarily jazz musicians and famous musical artists.

Mary Anne O'Neill

Mary Anne has experimented in a variety of media, spending the last 2 years working in watercolor. Painting primarily florals and landscapes, Mary Anne has an affinity for painting the children of Central America in their colorful clothing, as well. Manipulating spatial perception through color and patterning, and triggering viewer response are her main purposes in painting.

Carole Wolcott

Carol's work projects an inherent dimensional aspect due to the high-contrasted elements within them. The freshness with which she lays in color, offers a sparkle of crispness, sought by other watercolorists. A traditionalist with the medium, she enjoys painting nature, both in landscape and in its floral aspects. Retired art educator with MA in printmaking,

Carol studied with Irv Shapiro at the American Academy of Art, where she fell in love with the medium.

Lenox H. Wallace M.W.S.

Lenox's paintings are presented in Splash 3, Splash 5 (Northlight Pub.) and Watercolour in a Weekend (Charles & David Pub.). Depicting calm, rich moments in time, is Lenox's aim. Although often mentioned as a "colorist", she insists that it is the dynamic contrast of values in her work that draws the viewer's attention. As a signature member of the Midwest Watercolor Society, Lenox has taught watercolor classes and workshops for over 15 years. After 30 years of teaching art in the public schools, with a MA in Art Ed, watercolor painting has become her career. Lenox is fascinated with 'paint being paint'. She promotes the painterly qualities of watercolor to her classes (the things only watercolor can do) while encouraging critical judgments in the management of composition.

Represented by: Anam Art Gallery, Naperville, IL., Blue Dolphin Gallery, Ephraim, WI., Mullaly's Gallery, Elk Rapids, MI., Workshops: Peninsula Art School, Door County, WI., Plein Aire Painting, Monte Fiori Gardens, Sag Bridge, IL.
Critiques: Various art leagues and schools in Illinois.
